We have been busy remodeling the house we bought in 2007. We are trying to make it fit Barry and Karin's family and trying to make it look nicer. We redid one of the bedrooms and the living room and then added a storage building out back and a nice addition with a big bedroom for the girls and a storage room and the two-car garage. New stocco outside with a rock wainscoat in the front. Ended up really nice.
Fall means the beginning of a new scout year with Scout Roundtable starting in October and Pow Wow later on. Sherry has been really busy with her Scouting jobs as well the usual stuff at school like getting ready for the Christmas Program and other related activities.
I'll bet there aren't many families with the number of fall B-Days we have. It seems like almost every week we have at least one or more. If you count from the beginning of school, you'd have Blake, Maya, Karin, Rachel, Jade, Justin, Addison had her zero birthday but that's another story, Brittni, Bryan, Tyree, Elijah, Matthiew, Chantelle, Hayden, Zoey and Daniel up through the end of November. Wow, what a busy couple of months!
Sherry and her pals met up in Pocatello for the annual P.E. person conference. They call it work but it looks like a lot of playing around to me. I invaded their conference to check up on them and this is what I found, you be the judge.
Fall means time for the long anticipated General Conference. This one was special for a number of reasons. It was Elder Scott's 80th Birthday. We had our usual meeting and then a special reception for him. We had a lot of folks there. It was like a mini conference. We had Elder Cristopherson and Elders Zwick, Corbridge, and Jones from the Seventy. They all took turns at the pulpit speaking. Elder Scott gave his usual stirring talk. What a night to remember for the mice from out of town!
We had a lot of the old gang there:Lifferth's, Brock's, McDowell's, Fucci's, etc, but this time we had the Thompson's there. We have begged them to come for a couple of years and this is the first time they have been able to make it work.
Some of the rest of us are close enough to be there about every conference and we are blessed everytime we make the effort to go.
Romina put together a good share of the reception. She cooked over 400 empanadas which were the talk of the crowd and piononos too. If you didn't get an empanada early on, you went without.
You can count Barry and Karin, Stetson and Justin as regulars too. It is neat to have them involved with Elder Scott. It is not just a great talking point for the kids but they are insured of a great spiritual experience too.
It was a great night to be with friends that we haven't seen for sometime and others we see every reunion. It was nice to get acquainted with some of the missionaries that we don't see all that often. We had a chance to visit with all of the five General Authorites and their wives. What nice folks! Barry was good to get pictures of most of the happenings. It was nice to visit with Elder Christopherson and his wife.
We had a fun time at Bryan and Romina's and at Todd and Suzi's too. It was a fun trip and one that we will always remember.
We stayed an extra day in SLC for Bryan's B-Day party out at Camp Williams. It was a lot of fun to be there with the Romina, the kids and the birthday boy himself and his chums. This shot is Bryan's work station when he is not working in the gym.
It was nice to see and visit with Olga and some of the other people Bryan works with.
I had to Get back to Dodge to take care of other pressing things like the harvesting the carrots and potatoes and the apples, Andy Millward's Eagle project, the bridge over the Ditch Kwia, the clearing the garden, get ready for Halloween and finish Allan's bed. Sherry had to clean out a couple of rooms and take care of Simon. Sugar City was the State Capitol for a Day on the 31 of October. We had a good share of the Governor's team here for the day. I'm the Mayor's go to guy for flags. Boy were the Governor's people impressed with the flags. I went over to the High School for a while after getting Alan and Jenny off for Kamiah with the bed and the Mayor introduced me to the Governor as "the flag guy". The Governor was impressed with the flags. We had over 300 flags up down main street to the High School.
We went to Reno the week before Christmas to the Collegate Wrestling Tournament they have there every year. Todd finished up his last test the day we left so he met us in Pocatello and went along. Suzy had to work so she didn't get to go along. We really wanted to show off Suzy to our friend, John Smith. It was a great trip and OSU won the tournament to boot.
